Monday Art Mission: REVIEW + CATCH UP

4/27/2020

Good Morning Wildcat Artists!

I know we are all still adjusting to life online and I wanted to take today to go over all the assignments we have had so far so you all can
>>> 1. Catch up
>>> 2. Make sure you have everything completed and submitted

So, your only ASSIGNMENT today is to go through this list and double check that you have everything done. If you are missing something use this time to complete, submit and receive credit.

Also, we have not had the best weather (apart from Saturday) to do the Earth Day Environmental Art so I am going to give you an extra week for that – I really want you to take your time and thoughtfully plan an outdoor piece that you are proud of.

This will give people a chance to redo it if they had unfavorable conditions that thwarted their attempts.

If you have not done an assignment and it is past its due date you can still earn partial credit except for the answers to the Prehistoric Stone Age Art Questions and the Medieval Illuminations Questions because those deadlines have passed and the answers are posted online. There will be a make up to earn half credit available this Wednesday.

NAVIGATION

On our Art Blog each post has its own page.
So if you need to go back to a prior post from earlier in the month, please:

1. Scroll all the way down until you reach the “<<Previous” button at the bottom left.
2. Go back using the “<<Previous” button until you find what you are looking for.
3. And then use the “Forward>>” button on the right to navigate to more recent posts.

If you have questions about this please let me know or ask a classmate for help.

GRADING + ASSESSMENT

0 - did not turn in
1 - minimal effort
2 - moderate effort
3 - excellent effort = could tell material was read/watched by quality of response, reached out if required clarification/had questions, submitted on time, effort was evident, time was invested (doesn't look rushed), was well thought out (not last minute), exhibited creative problem solving

You will need to earn 2's + 3's in order to pass = obtain credit for this Remote Learning | Virtual Teaching.

4/6 Monday Art Mission: Still Life Self Portrait

We learned about Portraits, Self-Portraits, Still Lifes and Composition

ASSIGNMENT:

We will be combining the concepts of Self Portraiture and Still Lifes to create a
SELF PORTRAIT STILL LIFE of objects from around your houses or in your bedrooms that define us: objects that are uniquely YOU and items that hold special meaning.

Find your favorite objects such as your cozy sweater, an adventure book, your gaming controller etc. These things should define or describe you in some way – movie or concert tickets, passport, souvenirs etc. You can even include foods and pets if you can get them to sit still! Arrange these objects in an aesthetically pleasing way = think of your viewpoint and that everything is balanced and that you can see everything – check your lighting!

To call something aesthetically pleasing is in essence to call it beautiful, i.e. pleasing to the senses, but particularly the senses of sight and hearing— it would be unusual to describe a delicious meal or an aromatic perfume so.

Remember a Self Portrait is… a portrait of an artist produced or created by that artist = YOU!

And a Still Life is… a collection, or arrangement of mostly inanimate objects that are commonplace – what you might find around your bedroom or home.

>>> try to get at least 10 objects for your Still Life Self Portrait <<<

Once you take a picture you email it to me [email protected]
